Friday Night: The Final Performance

WOOT! What a fun night! Seriously we had the best time! Everything turned out really well and the audience was the best out of all we've had! Everybody did such a good job; we should all be so proud!

I also really felt my monoluge; compared to Thursday night's and I got my favourite line in with the Food Fight scene (bit of improv happening there also) so all was good.

It's so sad that was our last major Drama school performance ever, but it ended in such a good way :)

Thursday Night's Performance: Moderation

What a night.

What can I say, everyone did SO well! You all shined to the best of your abilities :) I can't wait to see the marks because you will all soar to new heights. With so little stuff-up's which weren't even recognisable (well maybe the cards but that's it :P) all is fine.

As for me, I can't say the same. Okay this is going to sound SO dumb but I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since it happened last night. I've been in a shithouse mood ever since it happened so sorry to all the people that have had to encounter that. Dunno if most of you are aware or not but when I came out to do my monoluoge last night my phone started to ring in my pocket. Sure it was on silent and all but it was vibrating.

This really fudged me up because I have spent months with this my monologue! I have worked SO hard to get this to look and sound SPOT ON and it's kind of like all that hard work was thrown away. All I could concerntrate on was my phone ringing. I couldn't show emotion, facial expressions, movement or make sure my lines were spaced apart; all I could do was say my lines and this TOTALLY SUCKED!

I must sound like a total whinger and it's almost like I can't even believe I'm thinking like this; but at the moment it's all I can think about. Everyone did so well so the fact that this is all I can think about makes me really selfish and I'm kicking myself for that. What's worse is I've had so many people ask me "Why wasn't your phone turned off" or "What was it doing in your pocket anyway" and "You could have used it ringing and improvised"? If I hear one of these things again I'll FREAK! I couldn't think and I can't turn back time and change this so I'll just have to deal with it.

Sorry you's had to hear all this shit but I needed to say it because it's driving me up the wall. Good luck with our last performance tonight; we'll all break a leg!

Wednesday Night Performance

Our first official performance was last night and even though there was the odd hiccup here anf there, overall IT WAS SPOT ON! The audience was larger than we were expecting which was good because it was originally like what 14 people?!?!

As for the performace, it went so well! I was really feeling what I was saying when it came to my monoluge and the fairytale scene sounded so great with all our yelling! Some people really showed their talent from what I saw (yah you know I'm talking about you Jamie and Kyle) and Luke showed his talents when it came to covering up mistakes! What would we do without him?

The only thing that got me was the belly dancing scene; not a laugh in sight. Dunno if it was the Year 12 audience we had or the fact that people just won't find it funny. AND WE HAD MEALS!!!! I got to east this YUM stuff but the second time it was the same stuff and it had gotten really really cold.

Moderators are gonna be on sight tonight and even though I'm nervous, I'm prepared for it because I know all of our hard work will be paying off soon :) See ya's all tonight and break a leg, but don't do that or I might laugh before calling for help... ROTFLMAO see ya!@

Performance # 1 - How Did We Go? I'll Tell You :)

AWESOME :)

Seriously we did so well today, even though the audience for the second half were kinda blah. First act was all good with laughs at the right spots. Audience participation worked well also.

As for the acting; spot on! Our projection with our voices was so much better. I noticed it with a few certain people, you know who you are. The feedback from Ms Mace was also handy because I used it and I really felt a huge difference personally! I also believed my monolugue; and my wolf/white rabbit lines!

There were also no hassles with costume changes and I noticed sound and lighting had really improved. Our behind the scenes people Bec, Josh, Ally, Shane and Ms Mace of course all put in 110% and were awesome so congrats.

I feel we should be fine and dandy (like sour candy) tomorrow night for our first official performance with stuff-ups limited for sure. Hope we can pull out one hell of a show for the audience :)

First Performance Tomorrow Night!!!

Okay, seeing as the last post was so short; this one's going to be a long one...

Our first performance is tomorrow night to an unknown audience, but it will be good practicem seeing as there are three more to come. I do honestly feel we are ready and there has been so much improvement made over the weekend thanks to our weekend practice :)

Sunday morning's actual rehersal didn't start until around 2:30 even though some of us were there at 10:30, but that was OK because when we did start it went smoothly (OK a bump in the road here and there). There are some scenes that could have a little more work (Food Fight just didn't run smoothly this time dunno why???) but we have the first Tuesday lesson to do that. Other than that, all ran well. Sound/lighting cues are never going to always be on time, but hey that's just how it is. We'd be lost with out our tech people so high-five to Josh! High-five to Bec as well because even though this is a stressful time, she's been keeping her cool and things are starting to work.

Props wise, I've decided to go out of my way to get a suitcase for the Dad. I feel that everytime I walk onto a scene I should have one, but I never do so I will have one by tomorrow. I've also got to remember the bunny ears I forgot on stage yesterday (sorry Ally :P) but I saw it as "Hey, I fogotten them once, I won't forget them again".

I really enjoyed the exercise yesterday when we all got to complement each other on our progress. I got the chance to compliment and congratulate everyone's success which made me feel really good. I appreciated what everyone said to me, with a few that really stood out. I really appreciated what Luke said because that really made me feel totally awesome! I reckon I might post what I said/or forgot to say on here:

Jenna: Like I said to you yesterday, your character development is brilliant. You have really breathed like into the girl and made her so realistic. I don't know if anyone could have done it any better! You have put in so much work over the past month!

Holly: Your monologues (I think there's like 2 or 3) are outstanding. The fact that you had to remember ALL those lines is one thing, but to bring in so much emotion is another and you ace it! Love it when your character looses it at the dinner table, I really believe you when you do!

Kyle: Wow, could anyone play a better brother than you? It's one thing to be a brother, which you are, but to bring that little extra something on stage and get it across to the audience is another and you have no problems there. Your monologue shows your true talents as well!

Adele: You really make it seem like you're trying to support this girl in her struggles and it really shows. The way you can make all your other characters seem so different is also top-notch! Gotta love your ducky voice too!

Luke: The Ringmaster was a role that you were born to play! From the moment you read the lines at our early early practices to last night, there has always been a sense of character development that has gone so far!

Phoebe: Whether it be the Counsellor or the Showgirl, your talents are always shown! I love it when you bring so much quirkiness (never mind the spelling) to "Jazz" and you're always making me laugh with the "disturbed" line!

Kiah: I really believe you are a GP when I watch those scenes! The fact that you can make me believe that shows that you have the "IT" factor when it comes to character development. I'm also happy to hear that your voice is back :)

Klunyk: Who else could pull of being a clown other that the one and only Klunyk! From the "yowza yowza" to when you need to be serious, it's all good. Hope the face paint works out in the end :P

Victoria: Another one of a kind that can pull of the clown factor. You're character is so different to Klunyk's and it shows. Your facial expressions really get me as well, there awesome! Gotta be proud of that!

Leonie: You have had the hardest job; creating a character, and you have done such a good job at it! You really make me laugh and even though sometimes it's not intentional, it's worth it! Loved the golf skit with Luke by the way, top stuff!

Jamie: Extend! Extend! Who else could make the Madame who she is today! You also make those ducky's who they are! Thanks for also making these Drama practices fun, dunno how I'd be with you not there???

Maddy: The voice is a character that really creeps me out, and I knew you could pull it off. What really gets me is your body movement, I don't think anybody has looked into their movements on stage like you have! Love the face paint too :)

Now to the "Behind The Scenes" people. What would we do without you???

Bec: Who would pull off being the stage manager other than you. It's such a hectic job and there's so much involved, so the fact that you can keep your cool and get the job done shows real talent! We appreciate everythign you have done :)

Ally: If you weren't here, we'd be in the nuddie on stage (well maybe not that extreme) but we'd be lost without you! Your costumes are sublime and you have put in so much effort! Be proud because we are!!!

Josh: What's a play without music, and with you gone it would be just that! Mr. Music man, I really thank you for all that extra help with music, and it's also gonna sound top-notch! You're a life saver when it comes to the music/tech stuff that nobody else would know how to do!

Finally...

Ms Mace: What can I say. You have the hardest job of all, making sure we don't make fools of ourselves on opening night! We all appreciate your help and support SO much and we couldn't have done any of this without you!!! Thank you for helping me develop my character because I would be nowhere without your extra help at those lunch times!!!

Okay that took like a whole study lesson to write!!! Hope all the performacnes go well; I'm sure they will :) Good luck and I'll see ya's all there!

Volunteer & Boyfriend

My other two characters haven't really been mentioned on this blog before, so I thought I'd do a blog dedicated to them.

Volunteer: He's your typical teenage audience member wearing those types of clothes you'd wear to a performance. He gets pulled out of the audience and is made a fool of, so that should be so fun to do, as well as a heck of a challenge.

Boyfriend: He is going to be your typical "cool" teenage boyfriend you see hanging out with those "pretty" teenage girls. This character isn't on for long, but I want to make him look completley different from the Dad.

Okay, that's about it. See ya's at the practice!
